More than one of you.
One account, many selves. A persona is a separate public identity inside Epona that you post dreams under. It has its own name, its own avatar, its own followers. From the outside, it looks like a different account. Nothing on the public side connects it back to your main profile unless you decide to tell people so.
Many of you, one of you
The dreams you want to share with strangers are often not the dreams you want to share with your friends. The ones you are comfortable letting your coworkers read are not the ones you want a therapist to read, and the ones you want to publish anonymously are not the ones you want attached to your real name forever. A persona is a public mask that lets you publish dreams under a different identity while still writing them inside your one real account. You own all of them. The world only sees the side each persona is showing.
A pen name with a face
Each persona has its own name, avatar, and bio. When that persona publishes a dream, that is the name and picture other people see in the plaza. Your main account is not shown, not linked, not hinted at in the profile page. If you want the world to see two sides of you as two different people, this is how you do it. Think of it like a writer with more than one pen name. Each one is a full presence, not a disclaimer.
Nothing stitches them together
There is no public thread connecting your personas to each other or to your main account. Each persona has its own follower list, its own dream history, its own profile page. Even if two of your personas post in the same hour, nothing on the public side says those two posts came from the same writer. You are the only one who sees the whole picture. A stranger browsing the plaza sees only whichever persona they are looking at right now.
Switch at the moment you publish
Drafts always belong to your real account. When you tap publish, that is when you choose which persona the dream goes out under. You can publish the same dream from more than one persona if the framing changes, you can move a post between personas afterward, and you can keep a dream private forever and never associate it with any persona at all. The choice of which face the dream wears is made by you, at the moment you are ready to show it.
For the dreams that do not fit one profile
Some dreams need a softer voice than the one your friends know. Some need distance from your real name. Some you want to share without anyone from daily life being able to find them. Personas exist because people are not single-sided. You can have one for the tender dreams and one for the dark ones, one for the dreams you want strangers to find and one for the dreams you want only a small corner of the internet to read. The app does not judge what goes where. It just gives you the separate mailboxes.
Your real self stays yours
Behind the scenes, every persona is still a facet of your one real account. Your iCloud sync, your subscription, your journal history all live in the real account. You can retire a persona without losing the dreams it posted, rename one whenever the voice shifts, or merge a persona's posts back into your main profile if you ever decide to drop the mask. What stays private stays private. What you publish through a persona stays under that persona until you are the one who decides to move it.
