DREAM RECORDING

Capture dreams before they fade.

The hardest part of dream journaling is not the writing. It is the first sixty seconds after you open your eyes, when everything you just saw is already quietly leaking out of your head. Epona was designed around that window. The fewer taps you have to do between waking and getting the dream into text, the more of the dream survives.

Type it in the iOS app

Open Epona, tap plus, start typing. The new-dream screen is a single text field and nothing else. No title required, no tags required, no mood picker in the way. You can come back and tag it later when you are awake enough to think about it. Right now, all the product wants from you is the words, in the order they arrive. The rest is deliberately out of sight.

Dictate it without touching the keyboard

Half of the time you are not awake enough to type. That is fine. Tap the microphone and talk into the phone the way you would tell the dream to someone still in bed next to you. The speech-to-text is handled on-device by iOS, so your half-asleep voice never goes through a server. If the transcription is not clean, nobody is going to see it but you, and you can tidy it up at breakfast.

Or write to the Telegram or LINE bot

The friction of unlocking a phone and finding an app is a real amount of dream. For those mornings, there is a Telegram bot and a LINE bot. Open the chat you already have open, type the dream into it like a message to a friend, and everything you wrote syncs into your Epona journal the next time the app comes to the foreground. At 3 a.m., opening a chat is a muscle memory. Opening a journaling app is a decision.

Nothing is required

You do not need to pick a mood. You do not need to tag it. You do not need to add a title, choose a color, or rate the dream on a scale. All of those exist, but all of them are optional, and all of them can be added later from a list view when you are awake. The product is stubborn about this. The moment you ask someone to fill out a form at 6 a.m., you have already lost half of what they were about to write.

One journal, many years

Dreams compound. A year of entries starts to show you the parts of yourself that keep surfacing, and the parts that have quietly moved on. Epona treats the journal as the actual artifact of the product, not as a feed. You can scroll back chronologically, search by word, or filter by tag, and the same dream you wrote one tired morning in February will read differently when you come back to it in August. The archive is the point.

Stays yours until you publish

Every dream syncs end-to-end via iCloud. Even we cannot read what you have not published. Dreams only leave your device when you explicitly tap publish, and you can unpublish at any time and have them be private again. The default is private. You do not need to flip a switch to keep your own dreams to yourself. You flip a switch only when you have decided you want to let them out.

Frequently asked questions

How do I record a dream in Epona?

Open the app and tap plus to type into a single text field — no title, no tags, no mood required. You can also dictate the dream by voice, with speech-to-text handled on-device, or send it to the Telegram or LINE bot and it syncs to your journal later.

Can I record dreams without opening the Epona app?

Yes. Epona has Telegram and LINE bots. At 3 a.m., opening a chat is muscle memory where opening a journaling app is a decision. Messages you send to the bot sync into your journal the next time the app comes to the foreground.

Does Epona require a mood or title when I save a dream?

No. Mood, title, and tags are all optional and can be added later. The product is deliberate about this — the moment you ask someone to fill out a form at 6 a.m., half of what they were about to write is already gone.

Where are my recorded dreams stored?

Every dream syncs end-to-end via iCloud. Dreams only leave your device when you explicitly tap publish, and the default is private. You flip a switch only when you have decided you want to let a specific dream out.
