Anxious Grocery Store Dream: Shattered Phone & Exams

April 7, 2026·Anxious
I had the most frustrating dream last night. I was just at a normal grocery store trying to buy some milk. I walked down the dairy aisle but every single carton was completely blank. There were no labels at all. I asked an employee who was stocking shelves for help. He did not say a word and just gestured for me to follow him. We kept walking for what felt like twenty minutes. The store was impossibly huge. We finally stopped in an aisle that only sold loose batteries and potted plants. I turned around to tell him this was the wrong place. Suddenly he was my old high school math teacher. He handed me a piece of paper and said I was late for my final exam. I started panicking because I realized I was only wearing socks and the floor was freezing. I took out my phone to text my wife and ask her to come pick me up. The screen was completely shattered and the keyboard was just a bunch of random symbols. Then the phone started playing really loud elevator music. I tried to cover it with my hands to stop the noise and then I woke up feeling incredibly stressed.

A Dream of an Upside-Down City Where Giant Jellyfish Float in a Deep-Sea Sky, and Faceless Cats Whisper of a Melting Moon

When I came to, I was walking through an upside-down city. The sky was an ultramarine blue like the deep sea, and giant jellyfish floated slowly by in place of clouds.\nThe hands of the clocks on the street corners moved backwards, and passing faceless cats whispered to one another in human voices.\n"It is almost time for the moon to melt," they said.\nLooking down, I saw that stardust had been paved in place of asphalt, and with every step I took, the faint sound of a music box played.

Snake Shadows by the Window and the Lost Dormitory: Surreal Dream Analysis

Yesterday I dreamed we were living in a house. The room had a large floor-to-ceiling window, and right outside was a massive mountain teeming with animals. There would be animal droppings on the windowsill, which I would pick up and put into bags. One day, the window was left open. A small black banded snake slithered past the droppings and came inside—it flew in. I urgently told the other two people in the room to open the door and escape, but they didn't move. The little black snake drifted over to me, and I nearly peed myself. Suddenly, a dog appeared, bit the snake, and swallowed it, but the little black snake kept struggling. Out of nowhere, a human hand emerged from the dog and pinched the black snake's head. I quickly had someone bring scissors and snipped the snake's neck off. Terrified that the severed head might still bite, I cut it open right along the mouth. Later, I went to check and found the window still open. I cleared away the droppings and shut it, though I noticed the window next door was still open, which made me a bit anxious. Then I went to take out the trash and dump the droppings, but I got lost in the dormitory—I wandered from room 402 into room 502. Previously, I had a dream about a lollipop shaped like a cabbage 🍭 with nine snake heads growing inside it. And during my first pregnancy, I dreamed of an alien calling me 'Mom' twice.

Lost-ing

I dreamed I was at a place taking a train with a lot of people (the internal structure of that very primitive train was like a subway, with a row of seats against the window, and a few carriages were even specially used to transport coal, without even a roof). My older sister and my younger sister were both on the train. When I was on the train, my younger sister bought a ticket for each of us, because we originally didn't have tickets to ride, and then she bought a supplementary one. After arriving at the destination, we got off after the ticket check. After getting off, we got lost. The place we were going to should have been a hospital. It seemed someone in my family was sick in the hospital, but I didn't know who. Then my younger sister took us wandering around randomly (we were lost). As we walked and walked, we came across a small convenience store. I picked out some snacks I liked and left. Then we went to the hospital. After arriving at the hospital, we followed the road from the hospital to our home. But I accidentally got lost again, and accidentally walked to the train station. After being at the train station, I accidentally got on a train again. Then the train left. I hadn't brought my phone, hadn't brought anything, just myself. After arriving at the train station and getting off, I told the attendant that I hadn't brought my phone or anything, and I asked how I should pay the fare. Then the attendant lady scanned my face, which brought up my identity information, used my bank card to buy a ticket, and then let me get off. Then I asked again, saying I wanted to go to a hospital and didn't know the way. Then the lady printed the address on a small slip of paper for me, spent 1.7 yuan, and helped me call a cab. Then, I left. After getting out of the car, I found that I was lost again and again and again and again. Then because that train station was right next to a pizza place, that pizza place—whether it was the tables, the lights, or the chairs—everywhere was completely red. I didn't really like it there, but when I was about to leave, I suddenly saw a person, a family, who felt the pizza and things there were not tasty at all. After they ordered some things, they barely took a few bites and left, because at that time I was already a bit hungry. Then after they left, I took the leftover food on their table and ate it. Oh, my god, it sounds a bit pathetic. I really liked that pizza flavor, especially there was a double-layer pizza with cheese in the middle. Then I took two thick slices of pizza and left. Before leaving, an old woman grabbed me; she wanted to fight me for the leftover pizza from those people, but I told her I was so hungry and hadn't eaten anything. I begged her to give me this pizza. Her husband also took pity on me, pulled the old woman back, and let me go, and then I quickly ran away. After reaching the door of the shop, a staff member came in, reached out and grabbed my pizza, not wanting to let me go. He looked super suspicious of me, and then I told him it wasn't stolen, looked at him very confusedly, and then very confusedly pulled my pizza back. Then that waiter looked at me a couple of times and he left too. Um, then I got lost again and again and again and again. After leaving the pizza place, I gnawed on my pizza while walking, and while looking for the way. After I finished gnawing, I found I met some little kids. One of the kids, the pen he was holding in his hand was actually a phone. Then I said: Can I borrow your thing for a bit? I want to look at the route, I don't know the way. The kid agreed, said he would help me, and then I borrowed their phone, kept checking the map, kept looking at the route. Later, I suddenly remembered, this seems to be a phone, and then I called my younger sister, asking her to help me. Originally we were still struggling to look at that map, but they didn't really understand either, because the light was too dim, we couldn't even see clearly all along. Later we went to a brighter place to see clearly. Finally, I called my younger sister, asking her to help me call a cab. Among this group of kids, a slightly older one was very worried about me; he was afraid I was a bad guy who would kidnap them, and he was still very guarded against me. Then I dreamed of the little girl with the phone. She was the second oldest among this group of kids, and after she took the phone back, she said she would take me to the hospital. I said okay, and then before she even started taking me, I woke up.

Basically Running Into a War While Traveling, Then a Terrifying Subway

I dreamed I was at the escalator of a high-speed rail station. I saw my brother, and he said he was taking me to Japan. I asked him why, and he said it was to practice speaking. Then my brother's friend was also there, and she said I could go. So I asked my brother if we could make it back before Saturday (because I had something else to do on Saturday in real life). My brother said yes, and then asked if we had any recommended places to go. Everyone marked places on the map for my brother. I thought about it and chose a city recommended in National Geographic (I recently saw that city on TikTok and really wanted to go). Then my brother said, Hanhan, you absolutely cannot be late. Then he was going to take me to the airport. We passed a stretch of road we had passed last time. Because it was the middle of the night, there was no one there, just like the last time we came. But suddenly, war broke out. Artillery shells destroyed the streets and houses, and fires were burning everywhere. My brother told me to run quickly (to this day I still don't know if the 'you' in the dream was telling me to run away or run to the airport). 'What are you spacing out for at a time like this?' I finally realized I had been stunned by the bombs. So the two of us sprinted wildly to the airport, and in the blink of an eye, we arrived in Japan. After arriving in Japan, I went to take the subway. But the subway station I walked into was inexplicably tall, massive, and empty, without a single person in sight. I didn't know where my brother went either. When I finally managed to see people, it turned out everyone was walking in the opposite direction from me. I was a little angry and scared, but I kept walking forward anyway. Then I entered the largest elevator I had ever seen. It was about the size of a classroom, and there wasn't a single light on. Inside, there were two staff members. They were holding giant, circular fluorescent stickers (about the size of five plates). When they saw me, they said, 'Congratulations! You can make a wish!' I was baffled—why would a subway do this? Plus, after the elevator doors closed, only the stickers were glowing, which looked a bit creepy. One of them even peeled the backing off the sticker and stuck it onto me, then kept pressing me for my wish. I didn't really want to answer, so I asked what people usually wished for. The lady replied: 'Usually people wish for everything to be okay and things like that.' So I just casually used two blessing words, and then the elevator doors opened, and I left. And then I woke up.
